This was the first time we had tried to undertake a fiberglass sculpture of this size, Southsea Models in Albert Road Portsmouth asked us to come up with a theme for the facade of their shop and after a few quick sketches, a dragon design was decided on and the finished piece came to fruition in 2004.
At the time we were helping many new artists into employment and one that seemed to be destined to work on this project was Turlo Griffin (its true) he carried out many detailed designs and Mark and Richard Goss made up the frame, base, wire, and plaster structure. Turlo then proceeded to make the clay model which we all fiberglassed and then painted. Mr. Griffin went onto work on model making and stage sets for big Hollywood films in London.
